Forthcoming Conferences

4 - 6 September 2008, UK

Science and Religion Forum
Matter and Meaning, Liverpool Hope University
Website: www.srforum.org/newsite/future.htm

October 2-5 2008, Italy

SophiaEuropa in association with Xavier Tilliette International Institute present an international conference on:

Human Beings: philosphical, theological and scientific perspectives

Location: Gorizia Castle, Gorizia, Italy

In addition to invited speakers listed below we are offering the opportunity for contributed papers by conference participants. Papers should fall within the conference theme and must be relevant, not broadly conceived, to the main conference topic Human Beings: Philosophical, Theological and Scientific Perspectives.

The conference will be attended by a multi-disciplinary group of scholars (scientists, philosophers, theologians, historians, mathematicians) from more than 15 countries, many of whom are participants in our SophiaEuropa Research Project, supported by Metanexus Local Societies Initiative and the John Templeton Foundation.

Accepted participants are welcome to be our guest for the entirety of the conference. Furthermore, we can cover their travel expenses to and accommodations in Gorizia.

Scholars interested in the Conference are invited to contribute a short paper (30 minutes) to be read during the conference.

The aim of the conference, in order to organize the broadest debate around the main topic, is to explore in depth and discuss the so-called default position illustrated by Anthony Kenny and Ron Cole-Turner. The other speakers shall argue this position and judge the results and the development/or different implications embedded in the pages written by them.

Abstracts of not more than 500 words (excluding title, names and keywords) must be submitted to the Academic Committee President:
