Our Statements

Charles Darwin on Religion

The year 2009, which marked the bicentenary of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his book “On the Origin of Species”, there were many comments – often speculative or ill-informed – about Darwin’s religious or anti-religious beliefs. To provide a balanced view, and a stepping stone to further study by anyone interested, the ISSR Executive Committee asked the illustrious historian of science, John Hedley Brooke, to provide a brief, non-academic introduction to this topic.

Cybrids and Chimeras

The authors, Sir Brian Heap and Revd. Dr Ronald Cole-Turner, were invited by the Executive Committee of the International Society for Science and Religion to prepare this statement. Through a process involving consultation with all members of the Society, the statement has now been accepted by the Executive Committee for publication as a statement made on behalf of the Society.

The Concept of ‘Intelligent Design’

The authors of this statement constitute a group set up for the purpose by the Executive Committee of the International Society for Science and Religion. Through a process involving consultation with all members of the Society, the statement has now been accepted by the Executive Committee for publication as a statement made on behalf of the Society.
