Press Release, 20 November 2007
The International Society for Science and Religion announced the launch of The International Society for Science and Religion (ISSR) Library Project on 1 November 2007. The ISSR, the world’s leading learned society in the field of science and religion, will create a foundational library of central texts in the field. This library will consist of approximately 250 books spanning all important areas and disciplines as well as key international and intercultural voices.
The project will deploy the collective experience of the Society’s membership in selecting appropriate texts for inclusion. Through the work of the Executive Editor, the Editorial Board and a team of Contributing Editors, all drawn from the Society’s membership, and with ongoing nomination and input from the membership at large, the Society will spend approximately eighteen months in a detailed review and selection process.
Request for Proposals
The International Society for Science and Religion requested proposals from institutions of higher learning to receive complete Libraries of major works in the field of science and the human spirit. Selected through rigorous peer review, these titles reflect no ideological or religious bias and are drawn from many faith traditions as well as authors with vigorously naturalistic perspectives. ISSR selected 150 institutions on a competitive basis to receive libraries of matching hardbound volumes accompanied by the Companion.
That call is closed. The original documents are kept as a historical record.
