Biography

Daniel Langton has research and teaching interests in Jewish history, with particular expertise in Jewish-Christian relations and religion and science, specifically in Jewish historical engagement with evolutionary theory and materialistic philosophy. He is located in the department of Religions and Theology, where he is Head of the Department of and Co-director of the Centre for Jewish Studies (CJS).

Externally-funded research projects include Leverhulme Major Research Fellow 2013-15 (Darwin's Jews: Evolutionary Theory, Jewish Thought and Interfaith relations), an AHRC Leadership Fellow for 2016-17 (The Doubting Jew: Atheism, Jewish Thought and Interfaith Relations), and a visiting fellow at the Katz Center, University of Pennsylvania, 2017 (The Jew in the Natural World).
