Biography
Peter M. J. Hess is a Roman Catholic theologian working on issues at the interface of science and religion. He has taught most recently for the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara, CA. He was Director of Outreach to Religious Communities with the National Center for Science Education (NCSE) in Oakland, California (2006-2014), and served as Associate Program Director of the Science and Religion Course Program of the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences (CTNS) in Berkeley, California. Peter Hess earned an M.A. from Oxford University, and a Ph.D. in historical theology from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, and is co-author of Catholicism and Science (Greenwood Press, 2008), and numerous book chapters. He is currently researching the ethical implications of a growing human population in light of climate change.
