Biography
Randy Isaac was Vice President of Science and Technology at the IBM Thomas J Watson Research Center prior to retiring in 2005 and taking his current position as executive director of the ASA. He received his B.S. degree in physics from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois in 1972 and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1974 and 1977, respectively. In 1977 he joined the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, as a Research Staff Member in silicon technology. He was Director of Silicon Technology before becoming project manager of the joint IBM/Siemens development program of the 64Mb DRAM product. In 1995 he was the founder and Director of the IBM Austin Research Laboratory in Austin, Texas which focuses on high-performance microprocessor design. As VP of science and technology, he had worldwide responsibility for physical science research, including information theory, and for semiconductor, packaging, and communications technologies.
In his current role, he directs a network of approximately 2,000 Christians in science with a mission of fostering dialog on issues of science and Christian faith. The ASA publishes the quarterly peer-reviewed journal, Perspectives on Science and Christian Faith.
