Biography
James C. Peterson, PhD, is the Editor-in-Chief of Perspectives on Science and Christian Faith, the peer-reviewed journal published jointly for now seventy-four years by both the American Scientific Affiliation http://network.asa3.org/default.asp?page=PSCF and the Canadian Scientific and Christian Affiliation https://www.csca.ca/. Formerly the R. A. Hope Professor of Ethics at the Divinity College and Medical School of McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, and the President of the Canadian Scientific and Christian Affiliation, he is now the Schumann Professor of Christian Ethics and Director of the Benne Center for Religion & Society at Roanoke College http://roanoke.edu/Academics/Academic_Departments/Religion_and_Philosophy/Faculty/Dr_James_Peterson.htm. He also serves on the faculty of Virginia Tech https://medicine.vtc.vt.edu/academics/academic-departments/interprofessionalism/faculty.html, and is the ethicist for the bioethics committee that does policy, education, and clinical consults for LewisGale Hospitals. Awards for research and teaching in science and religion have come from the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences, Berkeley, CA, the Templeton Foundation, the Louisville Institute, and as a research fellow in molecular and clinical genetics funded by NIH. Invited lectures on science and religion have been at universities including Queens, Waterloo, U of Toronto, U of British Columbia, Tyndale, Seattle Pacific, Wheaton, Calvin, Catholic University of America, Arizona State, Harvard, Northwestern, and Oxford; most recently Washington University at St Louis, the quadrennial World Parliament of Religions, the annual meeting of the AAAS, and the National Academy of Sciences (USA).
