Biography
Dr David Grumett's research interests in science and religion are in two fields.
First, theology and evolution, especially as related to the work of the French Jesuit thinker theologian and palaeontologist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955). In 2018 David published with Paul Bentley an article in Zygon presenting and discussing the Six Propositions that Teilhard was required to sign in 1925. He earlier produced a book Teilhard de Chardin: Theology, Humanity and Cosmos (Peeters 2005) outlining Teilhard's theological synthesis.
Second, theology, food and animal welfare. David authored a book with Rachel Muers Theology on the Menu: Asceticism, Meat and Christian Diet (Routledge 2010) and since then many articles and chapters on how Christian history and theology may inform food choices today. More recently, his work has extended into farm animal welfare.
