Dear ISSR Member,

It is hard to believe that August is now here. I do hope that, given current global conditions, you have still managed to enjoy your summer (if you are in such parts of the globe right now). This month’s newsletter is brief, but with important elements.

  • A large grant of $1,455,601 from the John Templeton Foundation has been awarded to Prof. Megan Page at Loyola University Maryland to support her project “Building Foundations in Science-Engaged Theology: Insights from Philosophy of Science”. More information can be found here: https://www.loyola.edu/news/2020/0728-templeton-award

  • The Institute on Religion in an Age of Science (IRAS) is hosting a webinar by Prof. Nancy Ellen Abrams on “The Unifying Potential of a God that is Real in the Scientific Universe” on 18 August, 17:00 EST. This is a free event, but you must register here to attend: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_2tW9i7mBRrmgoYXe3IME6w

  • Fellows interested in the dialogue between psychology and Christianity, especially Catholicism, with an eye toward topics such as philosophical anthropology, the relations between faith and reason, and pastoral psychology, please contact Robert Kugelmann at kugelman@udallas.edu or Fraser Watts at watts@cantab.net or Loren L. Toussaint at touslo01@luther.edu.

  • Lastly, a reminder that our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is happening this coming Wednesday, 05 August, at 16:00 BST, 11:00EST. Information for the AGM, including documents such as the annual report and agenda, as well as details on how to join the Zoom meeting, are all located here: https://www.issr.org.uk/issr-statements/issr-2020-agm-zoom-details/. We do hope to see many of you at the meeting.

Our newsletter is filled with information from you, our community. So, if you have news that is relevant to the field of science and religion and/or would benefit ISSR members, such as new books, conferences, job positions, calls for papers, etc., do please share it with me at admin@issr.org.uk so that I can include it in our newsletter.

As always, if you have any questions or need anything you can email me any time at admin@issr.org.uk.

All best for now and see you on 05 August,
