Biography
Professor Kim is the Executive Director of the Korea Forum for Science and Life. He previously served as Professor of Systematic Theology, Dean of the College of Humanities and Liberal Arts, and Dean of the Graduate School of Theology at Kangnam University, South Korea.
Professor Kim was a Co-Moderator of the 6th and 7th Congresses of Asian Theologians (CATS) and a President of the Korean Society of Systematic Theology, received the Graduate Theological Union's Alum of the Year Award in 2009 and served as Distinguished Asian Theologian in Residence at GTU. His achievements also include directing the 2002 Korea CTNS SRCP Religion and Science Faculty Workshop and being honored with the 2005 Global Perspectives in Science and Spirituality (GPSS) Award.
Professor Kim holds a BSE from Seoul National University, M.Div. and Th.M. degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the Graduate Theological Union. He has been a fellow at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University's Center for the Study of World Religions, the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences, and the Centre for Advanced Religious and Theological Studies at Cambridge University.
His scholarly interests center on constructive theology through interreligious and interdisciplinary trilogues involving Christian theology, East Asian religions (particularly Confucianism and Taoism), and the natural sciences. A prolific author, Professor Kim has contributed extensively to the fields of interfaith dialogue, theology of religion, Asian theology, and the intersection of religion and science. His publications include Wang Yang-ming and Karl Barth: A Confucian-Christian Dialogue (1996), Christ and the Tao (2003), Contemporary Sciences and Christianity (2006), A Theology of Dao (2017), and the forthcoming Theodao (Theology of Dao) II: Advancing K-Theology in the Anthropocene.
