Biography
International PhD in Logic and Philosophy of Science (University of Salamanca, Spain / University of Memphis, USA). Fellow, International Society for Science and Religion.
Catholic priest and professor of philosophy in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. He especially conducts research on the science and religion linkage. In this sense, his main fields of research are embodied or even 4E cognition, naturalism and the neurophenomenology of religious experience from an interdisciplinary approach.
He has been the principal curator and director of the Diocesan Library of Majorca, the institution which preserve the biggest and oldest documents in Europe written by or about Ramon Llull, the well-known logician and mystic from the Middle Ages. Professor Mejía holded a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Phenomenological Studies (Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium). He worked indeed as research scholar on neurophenomenology at the University of Memphis, United States. As a professor in Barcelona, he teaches Epistemology, Logics, Philosophy of Science and Contemporary Thought.
Rev. Mejía also worked as Visiting Professor at Sorbonne University (Paris 1-Pantheon) and he was doctoral researcher at Husserl Archives (École Normale Supérieur of Paris). He has published several works in English and Spanish, especially the books The Phenomenological Turn in Cognitive Neurosciences (Barcelona, 2019) and Thinking Artificial Intelligence (McGrawHill, 2020).
